McBride, Accrington
Hamilton McBride Ltd are manufacturers of quality bedding.
After moving into purpose built premises, Hamilton McBride were experiencing
overheating problems within the building, especially within the production
area.
The thermally
insulated property was retaining high temperatures, caused by solar heat gains
on the building and internal heat gains from the production process, extremely
efficiently causing uncomfortable working conditions during the warmer months.
This consequently lead to changes disruptions in the process due to changes
in shift patterns as workers were avoiding the high temperatures during the
afternoon.

We were
brought in to survey the factory and design a system that would deal with
the overheating problems within the production area. The existing de-stratification
fans were simply moving already warm air around the building and not helping
to alleviate the stuffy conditions.
The installation of an Optimair Ventilation System improved the problem of general
overheating by forcing in fresh air and mechanically extracting the excess
heat. This created significantly cooler ambient temperatures inside the factory,
stabilizing the production process and improving the internal working environment.
As well as benefiting from increased production, Hamilton McBride now also
comply with the latest Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations.
